saturday, i am with my son, my sister-in-law, and my 2 1/2 year old nephew, trying to walk out of the arena to return my lunch cooler to the car.
the exit we use is a "one way only, no re-entry permitted gate.
ok, i'm fine with that, i just want to leave the building through this corridor, not re-enter the same way.

Don't forget about the countless other brothers in the parking lot doing nothing more than just standing there in 90 degree heat, pointing you into the next available stall.
i was first contacted by the jws in 1968 when i was pg w/our first son.
i bought the little blue book "the truth that leads to everlasting life" for 25 cents.
found it interesting, but put it away because i was busy after our son's birth and i didn't think my husband would want to get into religious material as we had left the methodist church because they were always crying for $.. jump ahead to 1970. husband was home which was unusual because he normally worked saturdays.
I remember back in the 80's we had a CO who used to criticize all the married sisters in the cong who worked, they were all supposed to pioneer and let their husbands support them.. He said during a talk once that these sisters lacked faith in Jehovah and his abiility to provide. What an ass! Here was a guy who didn't have to worry about his expenses, because they were paid for by the congregations, and he was counseling women who had families to support about working. I remember how bad I felt for my mother who had to work full-time so that her 5 kids had enough to eat. I was about 12 years old at the time and I never forgot it, it stuck with me until the day I left. I didn't realize at the time that his words were just a reflection of the orginizational mentality, sacrifice everything for the faithful and discreet slave.

I gave up a lot for it, especially in my childhood, so in that sense I would say yes. On the other hand, there were always certain things that I had doubts about, so I can't say I gave my heart to it completely.

I was never truly comfortable being defined in that way. Even though I believed at the time that it was the truth, there were many times when I felt like I was never truly one of them. Maybe that was my subconscious trying to tell me something and I ignored it. I do know that I've grown a lot as a person just in the less than two years that I've been out.
why is that at conventions and assemblies a big point is made of introducing speakers by name, when the writers of the magazine articles and outlines are kept quite?
Did you notice the names of the speakers are announced.......but their names are NOT on the program?
I seem to recall that they used to put the speakers names in the program at one time? Am I wrong about this?

Leolaia- thanks for clearing that up for me. I bow to your wisdom. I guess I was still thinking like a JW. I was remembering how it was always portrayed in illustrations in their publications, with one nail through the hands.

what is weird about this podcast is that the fellow taking phone calls and answering questions seems to be a jw.
yet, he comes out and says the fds invented their "artfully contrived false story" about themselves.. .
I thought he said at the beginning of the podcast that his name was Robert King? Did I hear wrong?
the phrase "cause for stumbling" often left me bewildered.
tell you what to do counsel you and impose their own opinions on you.
maybe i did something in the past that "stumbled" someone, but aren't we all able to make our own decisions when it comes to conduct and choices ... at least we should be, especially if it isn't regarding something inherently wrong.
We had a CO once who actually told us that we can't stumble others, nor can we be stumbled ourselves. His point was that we are each accountable for ourselves. I agreed with it, but I remember thinking how it totally contradicted everything we had been taught up to that point. What was worse is that nobody else seemed to notice this fact besides me.
tomorrow i plan on sleeping in late and then go to a cookout.
during a day where it seems that most people will be in the yards cooking on the grill, i wonder if more jws will go out in service; and if offered a hotdog will they accept it?.
Some places have their fireworks on nights other than the 4th, like the 2nd or 3rd. I knew a lot of witnesses who got around the "pagan" element by watching on these nights, as if it really made a difference.
